The Birth of Derry and Now
A thousand years ago, a cataclysmic battle was fought in the area now known as the city of Derry.
The force of the combined might of the clerics of nearby cities Fallcrest, Winterhaven, Hammerfast, and the priests of the Barony of Harkenwold assembled here, and a line was drawn against the imminent threat from the Armies of Bane. The battle lasted for years, but, ultimately, the forces of order and good prevailed.
The city of Derry sprung up from the war camps and became the largest city in the Barony of Harkenwold over time. Peace and prosperity enveloped the town.
Times have been hard on Derry, in recent years. There are fewer students to study with the Fraternal Temple these days, fewer pilgrims, and more families have moved to less economically struggling towns, and rats are moving into the empty houses. The Steeltoe clan of Dwarves from Southern Dawnforge Mountains has mysteriously disappeared, and with it most of Derry’s trade.
Baron Stockmer has been absent for some time, as he deals with the goblin menace to the south. The Mayor of Derry struggles now to keep his city from collapse, the Council meetings regularly occupying most of his time.
This campaign uses all the core D&D rules, with a few modifications and exceptions, most notably there are no Dragonborn but Lizardmen instead. Yes, I don’t get the boobs thing.
